If I am completely honest, I have never really paid much attention to my protein intake. I figured if I eat a healthy, well balanced diet, paying attention to the every single detail won’t be necessary. Since my boyfriend, who is a bit more serious about working out then I am, is of different opinion, we have had a lot of discussions about whether protein powder is beneficial or detrimental to your health.
When I started doing research on protein shakes, I found out that there is a lot of controversy surrounding them. To clarify: When I talk about protein shakes and powder, I talk about the organic vegan options out there, every artificial supplement is complete b*llsh*t in my opinion. I decided to apply the precautionary principle and not touch protein powders, but still wanted to suggest an alternative that gives you the great feeling of rewarding yourself with something healthy and delicious while not having to worry about compromising with your health and Zero Waste values.
